Our Approach

Certification Program Offered

Professional Competence for Excellence in Teaching (PCET) is a comprehensive, 20-credit, blended school-based certificate program tailored for new teachers. This course combines academic and hands-on practical learning, ensuring educators are well-equipped for the classroom.

Eligibility Requirements

Educators who have completed B.Ed, D.EL.Ed or other recognized professional teaching certifications
Educators with 0-6 years of work experience

Financial Support

Partial or full support towards course fees will be provided to a limited number of students based on need. (only for in-person candidates)

We are building a thoughtfully curated library of educational books and resources, open to teachers, student-teachers, and school leaders in our community. Our collection spans essential topics in education—such as philosophy, psychology, pedagogy, and children’s literature, with a focus on diverse and inclusive perspectives. Whether you are looking for professional insights or creative inspiration, our library will be a valuable resource for lifelong learning.

Access to Physical Resources

Sadhana houses a rich collection of Teaching Learning Materials (TLMs), expertly designed to help make complex concepts accessible and engaging for students. These materials support innovative teaching methods and enable educators to experiment with tools that enhance understanding through hands-on exploration. Teachers visiting the centre will have the opportunity to explore these TLMs, with guidance on how to incorporate them effectively into their own teaching practices.

Workshops

The centre plans to host a range of interactive workshops aimed at developing practical teaching skills and pedagogical content knowledge (PCK). In these workshops, educators will have the chance to:

Challenge existing teaching assumptions and explore creative approaches to problem-solving in the classroom
Collaborate on lesson plans that reflect constructivist teaching methods, grounded in the real-world needs of their students

About Us

Leadership For Equity

Leadership For Equity (LFE) works with Governmental Institutions to incorporate Future Readiness within the Public Education System by building Foundational Learning, 21st Century Skills, Life Skills and Digital Skills in our Students. This will lead to holistic growth in Student learning and reflect in their improved employability as adults, providing an opportunity for upward social mobility.

To build future readiness in our children, LFE brings scalable and sustainable social change through a systems change approach. The three-pronged approach includes Strengthening Teacher Education, Enabling System Leadership, and Enhancing Educational Governance.

Centre of Excellence in Teacher Education, TISS

The Centre of Excellence in Teacher Education, CETE (formerly, Centre for Education, Innovation and Action Research, CEIAR) is an independent Centre at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. Established as CEIAR in 2015, the Centre has been engaging with and promoting innovation in school curriculum, teacher education and higher education pedagogy.

CETE works towards revitalising the education sector through research, academic programmes, teaching, field action, policy advocacy, partnerships and collaborations. The goal is to improve children's learning outcomes across schools in India by equipping teachers with the necessary skills, knowledge and attitudes. The Centre continues to build on its contemporary academic programmes to provide relevant skills and perspectives to new entrants, practicing teachers and professionals.
