Maharashtra FLN Content Development and Teacher Professional Development

Leadership for Equity (LFE) has partnered with the Government of Maharashtra to co-create comprehensive Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) content for students in grades 1-8 and a corresponding Teacher Professional Development (TPD) program. This initiative aims to enhance FLN outcomes by equipping teachers with the necessary knowledge, skills, and resources to deliver effective instruction.

Key Components

  • Curriculum Mapping: Aligning FLN content with the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) and state-specific learning objectives. 


  • Content Development: Creating engaging and effective learning materials focused on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Skills for Teachers professional development.


  • Teacher Professional Development: Designing and delivering a comprehensive TPD program to build teachers' capacity in FLN instruction, assessment, and classroom management. Providing on-going support materials for the teachers to build capacity in the form of videos, lesson plans and posters.


  • Assessment and Monitoring: Developing tools and mechanisms to track student progress and evaluate the effectiveness of the FLN content and TPD program. 


  • Technology Integration: Leveraging technology to enhance FLN instruction and provide teachers with access to digital resources and online training modules.
